Pumpkin Spice the Hygge Way

The first hint of autumn always brings one question: when can I have my first pumpkin spice moment? Whether you love it in a latte, a candle, or a cosy bake, there’s something about this blend of cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg that feels like autumn in a hug.

But pumpkin spice doesn’t have to be just about a coffee cup. This season, I’ve been thinking about how to bring pumpkin spice into everyday rituals - in a way that feels more hygge. Slower, cosier, and filled with little comforts.

Here are my favourite ways to enjoy pumpkin spice the hygge way:

🕯️ Light a Pumpkin Spice Candle

There’s nothing like the soft flicker of candlelight paired with the rich, warming scent of pumpkin spice. Our Pumpkin Spice Aromatherapy Candle is inspired by small-town autumn magic (yes, Gilmore Girls fans, this one’s for you) and fills your room with cosy nostalgia.

🧖 Pamper Yourself with Pumpkin Spice Skincare

Your skin deserves seasonal comfort too. Our Eva Carys Botanica Pumpkin Spice Whipped Body Butter melts into the skin for deep hydration, while our Pumpkin Spice Lip Balm protects against autumn winds. Together, they make your self-care routine smell (and feel) like autumn wrapped up in a blanket.

🍂 Set the Scene with Wax Melts

Our Stars Hollow Pumpkin Spice Wax Melts are perfect for autumn movie marathons, Sunday afternoon baking, or a long soak in the bath. They create an atmosphere that makes any moment feel like a seasonal ritual.

☕ Make a Hygge Pumpkin Spice Latte at Home

Skip the queue and create your own hygge-inspired latte:

  • 1 cup milk (dairy or oat works beautifully)
  • 2 tbsp pumpkin purée
  • 1 tsp maple syrup
  • ½ tsp our pumpkin spice blend (cinnamon, clove, nutmeg)
  • A shot of espresso (optional)

Warm the milk, whisk in the pumpkin purée, spices, and maple syrup, then pour over coffee (or drink as it is). Top with a sprinkle of cinnamon. Pure hygge in a mug.

🧁 Bake Pumpkin Spice Muffins

For when you want your home to smell like a bakery:

  • 200g self-raising flour
  • 100g light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp pumpkin spice blend
  • 100g pumpkin purée
  • 2 eggs
  • 100ml vegetable oil

Mix the dry ingredients, fold in the wet, and bake at 180°C for 18–20 minutes. Best enjoyed with a blanket and a hot drink.

📖 Cosy Autumn Reading

Autumn is the perfect season for small comforts, so it feels right to recommend The Little Book of Pumpkin Spice by Becky Keefe - a charming read that celebrates the seasonal flavour we all know and love. Pair it with a mug of tea or hot chocolate and one of our pumpkin spice candles for the ultimate autumn moment.

🍁 Make It a Ritual

The hygge way is about savouring. Whether it’s lighting a candle before work, slipping into soft pyjamas, baking something spiced, or enjoying a mindful tea break, pumpkin spice becomes more than a flavour - it becomes a ritual of comfort.

However you enjoy it, pumpkin spice is autumn’s way of reminding us to slow down, embrace cosiness, and find joy in the little things.
